Schools and Programs

There are two primary types of distance learning; acquiring a degree and online training. The growing trend for people who lack the time or resources for a traditional degree is attending an online university. For those already in the workforce, improving your knowledge (or acquiring new knowledge) with free courses online from online universities, or bricks and mortar universities that have established open and free courses to the public is something that has bee in existence for over a decade, but the manner in which these training processes is changing has improved greatly. Often the latter, bricks and mortar schools, are major universities that have decided to make high quality and diverse courses available to the public, but offer no support with them. Often they are made available to help students learn subject matter, but not for the purpose of receiving a degree or course credit. The courses are quite valuable nevertheless.

Some industries have ongoing training programs that they use to keep their employees up to date on current methodologies, or new equipment, and are generally outside the type of information this website seeks to explore. But it is nevertheless an important process to understand, as online training essentiallr gave birth to the concept of an online degree.

In this section we will offer our readers an opportunity to rate and share their experiences with online universities, as well as share with you what free online courses are available from bricks and mortar universities that you may use to improve your skill set and knowledge on certain subjects.
